AMRI, Inc. manufactures butterfly valves, actuators, and accessories for many markets, including chemical, petrochemical, pulp & paper, water and semi-conductor. We specialize in the manufacture and sale of fully PFA TeflonŽ lined and elastomer lined butterfly valves, providing tight shut-off and zero stem leakage, for all types of process applications. AMRI is the KSB group subsidiary responsible for servicing valve customers throughout the United States and Canada.
AMRI’s focus is on the highly engineered portion of the valve and actuator market. AMRI manufactures about twenty different butterfly valve lines, in sizes from 1 inch to 140 inches. These lines include metal-seated, rubber-seated, TeflonŽ encapsulated and rubber encapsulated models.
In addition, we also inventory, sell and service the valve products manufactured by the other KSB group companies.
AMRI is located in Houston, Texas and services all of the United States and Canada with a highly trained factory sales team and independent distributors. Please contact us for more information about our products and services.
The unique design of our valves, which incorporates a patented spherically machined disc and matching spherically molded liner, assures that only two valve parts come in contact with the media; the disc and the liner.
AMRI, Inc. is a manufacturer of lined butterfly valves and quarter turn actuators for the Chlorine and related industries. AMRI's manufacturing plant is located in Houston, Texas. Our PFA TeflonŽ lined valves are available from 1 to 24 inch, while our elastomer lined valves are manufactured from 1 1/2 to 140 inches in size. We have complete automation capabilities to provide actuation for all quarter turn valves. With a large inventory in Houston, we are supplying valves to almost every Chlorine maker in the United States and Canada.
AMRI valves are often used in place of other types of valves like plug and ball valves where tight shut off is required. Our valves are used in brine purification, wet and dry chlorine gas up to and including isolation of the chlorine compressors, caustic, sulfuric acid and cooling water.
Additionally, AMRI manufactures a broad range of direct mounting manual, pneumatic, electric and hydraulic actuators, along with accessories like positioners and limit switches.
AMRI manufactures several different valves for various industries and applications. The ACRIS valve is a fully PFA TeflonŽ lined valve used in the most aggressive and corrosive applications like hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, 35% hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, chlorine gas (wet or dry), vinyl chloride monomer, ethylene dichloride, chlorinated caustic soda, chlorine dioxide, bleached stock, sodium chlorate among others; as well as ultra-pure applications such as 18 Mega OHM de-ionized water and ultra-pure HF acid.
The ISORIA valve is a rubber lined valve used in non-corrosive and moderately corrosive applications such as 50% caustic soda, 98% sulfuric acid, seawater, cooling water, de-mineralized water, utilities, hydrogen gas, brown pulp stock, weak black liquor, white liquor, limestone slurry in FGD (flue gas de-sulfurization), and others.
The MAMMOUTH valve is a large diameter rubber lined valve used in fresh and salt water, river water, and limestone slurry applications.
The DANAIS valve is a flexible metal seated valve that provides extremely tight shut off in LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) down to -425 Degrees F, LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) , high temperature gases, and various other hydrocarbon applications.
AMRI is a global manufacturer of butterfly valves, actuators and accessories. Our group is the largest manufacturer of butterfly valves in the world, in terms of volume. With more than 400,000 butterfly valves delivered each year, AMRI is a worldwide leader for this product.

AMRI products are used in a broad range of applications, from simple water lines, to extremely corrosive chemicals, to nuclear power plants. AMRI is a market leader in providing valves for difficult services, including:
- Highly corrosive applications in chemical and petro-chemical plants
- Chlorine gas (wet or dry), brine and caustic in the chlorine industry
- Ultra-Pure 18 mega-ohm water and make up water in the semi-conductor industry
- Bleached and brown pulp stock, caustic, white and black liquor, and all the bleaching chemicals (chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorate, chlorine, and sodium hypochlorite) in the paper industry
- Acid plants using sulfuric, hydrofluoric, nitric and phosphoric acid
- Ballast, crude, diesel fuel, fresh water and seawater in ship-building or on existing cargo, tanker or passenger ships
- Large diameter (up to 140 inch) water lines in the power and water industries
- Food applications
- LNG liquefaction, LNG tanker ships and LNG receiving terminals
- European nuclear plants
AMRI’s success is the result of large expenditures on Research & Development over a long period of time, and the use of vertically integrated manufacturing processes. In addition to controlling the traditional manufacturing processes, AMRI is in complete control over all of it’s critical support services, including:
- Compounding all elastomers from raw ingredients and molding these elastomers into finished parts.
- Teflon molding using virgin Dupont PFA Teflon®

- For automated applications, AMRI utilizes a direct mounting system for its actuators. The elimination of the bracket and coupling provides a stronger valve/actuator connection, gives a compact package and eliminates the possibility of corrosion. The most important benefit is the exact centering of the actuator over the valve, thus eliminating side loading on the valve shaft.
- AMRI manufactures rack & pinion, double scotch yoke, and kinematic actuators. All of AMRI’s actuators are made to the same high quality standards. The Kinematic actuators, which includes our MSeries manual models, utilize a special linkage system which gives the greatest torque output at the opening and closing of the valve. This torque output exactly corresponds with the torque requirements of the valve. Each pivot point in the linkage system has roller bearings to ensure long life. Manual, as well as double acting and spring return pneumatic actuators are stocked in Houston, Texas.
